ABSTRACT
This study was carried out on the effect of demonstration and role playing instructional strategies on academic performance of pupils using selected primary schools in Ibeju Lekki Education Zone of Lagos State as a case study. To achieve this, five four significant research objectives were formulated. The survey design was adopted and the simple random sampling techniques were employed in this study. The population size comprise of teachers of selected primary schools in Ibeju Lekki Education Zone of Lagos State. In determining the sample size, the researcher conveniently selected 53 respondents while 50 were received and validated. Self-constructed and validated questionnaire was used for data collection. The collected and validated questionnaires were analyzed using frequency, and mean score tables. While the hypotheses were tested using Pearson Correlation Statistical Tool. The result of the findings reveals that there is a significant relationship between demonstration and the academic performance of primary school pupils. Also, there is a significant correlation between field trip and the academic performance of primary school pupils. In regard to the findings, the study recommends that there is need for teachers to use appropriate teaching methods considered suitable and relevant to the educational interest and needs of the child. This, if done, will ensure the realization of the objectives of pre-primary and primary education as stated in the National Policy on Education. To mention but a few.
